Today Ava Was A Vampire

Maybe your getting this bad habit from the cats? They'll nip at you, especially McGee, when you pet them a little too hard or tug on their tail.

Sit still, this'll only hurt
for a second.
They don't have ill intent, it's just the only way they can tell you they aren't happy with what you're doing. I don't know, this is all I can think of.

You've gotten into the habit of biting. It started a few days ago, you would bite mom when you got tired. Never me, just mom. Eventually the biting increased and all attempts at discipline are met with laughter.

I'm going to be how big?
Tonight mom was putting some laundry away and I put you in the basket and pushed you across the floor from our room to yours. After getting you out of the basket I was lying on the floor and you walked over, lifted the back of my shirt and bit the small of my back. Somewhere in the last few days you turned Vampire.

It probably didn't help the disciplinary action that I laughed when trying to get you off of me. I need to work on that. It wasn't pleasant on my end, especially since that third bottom tooth popped in today.

You didn't give up either, your thirst for blood was insatiable as you kept trying to bite me for a few minutes. Eventually something else caught your attention and we went downstairs to play.

Speaking of persistence, mom sent me the following video today. When you get your mind on something, you don't quit.

Today Ava Wouldn't Eat

You're good at a lot of things, but teething isn't one of them. Your lack of eating is part of the process for you; it makes your usual appetite non-existent.

Mom tried to feed you breakfast and lunch while I was at work, a few bites, nothing more. When I made it home from work we tried dinner and were again unsuccessful.

Pretty much all you'll take are bottles.

We hopeful this will pass quickly.

On a side note - mom had to run out to the office at Keller-Williams and when she was done, stopped by the Hall of Fame for lunch.

After eating, we went and took a look at the newly-renovated rotunda, mom had yet to see it.

On the top floor there are many interactive exhibits where you can try on a helmet and listen to coach/player communications, check your hand size and leg size against NFL stars, and more.

Of course we sized you up to see if you're league ready. We agreed, you have some growing to do first.

Today Ava Is Teething

Waking up ... slowly.
Judging by the last few days, and especially today, we'd be surprised if you weren't getting another tooth.

It started on Saturday with a really bad rash on your booty. First thought was maybe the new brand of diapers wasn't sitting well with you - pun intended. Then we noticedyou chewing on everything in sight. From your fingers to combs to whatever will sooth your tender gums.

Strangely enough this is how your first six teeth came in, started with the rash, then the chewing, then on to a day of two like today before it finally pops through.

Today you slept a lot, refused solid food and took more bottles than usual.

You woke up around an hour early this morning - 6:45 - and I was surprised to received a text from your mom at 9:20 saying you were down for a nap already. Logically though, I shouldn't have been surprised, up an hour early, down for a nap an hour early.

Your nap lasted nearly three hours - nearly an hour longer than normal. I was sad to come home to an empty stairwell until mom explained to me your sleeping habits and that you were down again. You didn't make me wait long and started stirring minutes after I walked in.

Resting as long as you did today kept you up until about 9:30 when you become punch drunk.

You sat with mom and did a little light reading before she took you back to bed.
