Today Ava Went Beachin

We started at Sullivan's Beach but that wasn't at all what we anticipated. It was overgrown with weeds and barely any sand to sit on. So, Uncle Joe suggested going a few minutes away to the Isle of Palms.

Talk about some expensive homes! The area is just beautiful and if we ever hit the jackpot, I know where we'll get a vacation home.

Timing is everything and you timed your nap just right. We thought this might be a total bust because you fell asleep in the car during the ten minute drive between beaches.

We found a nice open spot to put our towels down and as I started to lay you on  one, you're eyes popped open. Mom and I both said "Ava, look, the beach."

That's all it took. You popped up with more energy than I've seen in a while and went straight for the water.

As you can see, we neglected to bring your bathing suit. We didn't expect to get the reaction from you that we did.

You were hooked. The waves were calm and the water was warm.

Once you fell on your bucket and got wet, we decided the heck with it and stripped you down to your pullup. You were free!

Soon you found shells to toss and were running back and forth to the water

Back and forth you went for a good while.

We wanted to get a nice shot of you giving baby sister a kiss on her first beach trip, but you were too busy. We were able to capture a fleeting moment of affection.

Once your supply of shells seemed to be exhausted, it was off to the soft sand you went.

We're going to be cleaning sand out of the car for months ... but it was worth the mess.

We have a beach bum on our hands.
