Today Ava Went to The Orchard

It was a fruit-filled day! Applesauce, apple cider, apples, apples, apples.

Aunt Holly texted mom last night and asked if she could come up for a visit this morning. Of course we wouldn't turn her down.

She arrived from Columbus just as we were leaving Church. We ordered some takeout Chinese for lunch and mom came up with the idea of taking you to the orchard.

Initially we thought this might be a bust. You passed out on the half-hour drive and slept for maybe the first 15 minutes of apple-picking.
Sorry, Aunt Holly, Mom and Dad made me listen
in Church and didn't let me nap!
But once you woke up and got your bearings, it was game on.
This is awesome!
As you can see from the photo above, you sampled the fruits of your labor.
Pick me a good one, mom!
The orchard owner told us to try the apples and if we liked them, to pick them.

You took his advice to heart and sampled what seemed like at least one apple from each tree.
Nom Nom!
One thing that attracted me to your mother when we started dating was her maturity. You must be taking after her. While I was perched behind a tree poised to take photos, mom was trying to pose you in in an open area when a gentleman said "Two and a half, three years old?" To which mom responded "Nope, 14 months."

The man was floored. Judging by your coordination and behavior he thought you were much older.
Just strolling.
Much of the low-hanging fruit had already been picked but we found a tree deep in the grove that still had apples at your level. We let you try your hand.

It was a stubborn apple and after a few tries we moved on to a different tree where the prize was a little higher up. I held you up and let you pick a ripe bite-sized apple.

The look of pure joy at your accomplishment was priceless.

We also had Aunt Holly take a new family portrait.

What a fun afternoon! I'm really enjoying the Fall activities the most so far.
